Stefan Danckaert (1987) started playing the trumpet at age 10 with his father in ’s-Hertogenbosch. After many years of playing with the Koninklijke Harmonie ’s-Hertogenbosch he wanted to grow more as a musician. He started studying at the Tilburg Conservatory in 2011, with teachers like Martijn de Laat and Toon de Gouw, where he specialized in playing lead-trumpet.
Now, Stefan plays or has played with a lot of bands like het Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest 2013 conducted by Eric Vloeimans, Horns on Fire, Het Nederlands Studenten Jazz Orkest conducted by Sven “Hammond” Figee, Camilla Blue, Calderas, Twenty Sicks, Baby Blue, the Tilburg Bigband, Leeways and he also plays with tribute bands like Non Blonde Bowie, Faith: A tribute to George Michael en “Get it on! The Bill Chase Tribute”.
With those bands he has played on big stages and festivals like the North Sea Jazz Festival, Paaspop and the Zwarte Cross.
Next to playing a lot of gigs, Stefan is also a teacher, arranger and conductor.
Stefan started playing the lead trumpet with Hornsection Horns on Fire in 2015.
